Many thanks to Steven Myers, the Service Learning Resource Teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools, for speaking about FCPS’ service learning programming at last week’s club meeting!
Service learning involves students in authentic and meaningful service to their communities therefore developing their career and personal civic interests. This educational approach includes partnering with an agency (usually a non-profit or social service group) while learning theories in the classroom. The long term goal outside of potential career development is lifelong community engagement.
If you missed the meeting and would like to learn more, you can view Steven’s presentation here.
You have been invited by Leesburg Kiwanis to sign up for "69th Annual Leesburg Kiwanis Halloween Parade." We are excited to hold this annual signature event on Oct. 30th. There will be a short planning meeting using Zoom on Oct. 22nd to discuss the new end of the parade procedures as well as the duties on the signup. I will send the Zoom link on a later date.
